1. How big is the park? What are the amenities?
The park is fairly big providing a small splash park, covered picnic table area, 2 sets of swings, 12 small see-saw toys, large 6 piece color-connected play area and a duck pond.

2. Is it enclose or covered?
There is covered patio tables, however the rest is open.

3. What ages?
All ages
4. How safe is it?
Pretty safe.  There is a soft blue mat bottom in part of the playground providing a nice place to keep feet from getting burned in the sun.

5. Pros:
Covered patio tables, soft mat bottom, splash park area and lots to do.

6: Cons:
It's not enclosed. Also the large playground area provided playground equipment for young to older children. So, you will need to watch your children to prevent younger kids from getting onto the older kids play area because there are areas that have open holes which would require careful watching of your younger children.

Any additional notes:
This is a great park to bring a picnic lunch providing a good amount of equipment to play on.  Also, you can bring some old bread to feed to the ducks which is always fun.

Spray Ground Hours of Operation:
The spray ground at Celebration Park (701 Angel Parkway) will open for the 2011 season on May 1 and operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. except Wednesdays. The spray ground is closed for weekly maintenance every Wednesday. It will remain open until September 30.

Rules of Spray Ground:
  • No pets allowed on spray ground or playground
  • Children wearing diapers must wear a "swim diaper" if using the spray ground
  • Only rubber soled shoes allowed on spray ground rubber deck
  • For your safety, please do not climb on spray apparatus, railings or barriers
  • No skateboards, bicycles or roller skates are allowed on playground or spray ground
  • Play at your own risk

1. How big is the park? And what are the amenities?
This park is HUGE!!  We didn't cover it all in one day.  I plan to go back with bikes and wagons and head off to do the trails.  Bring a camera, there are a lot of different places for great photo opportunities.  There are 3 different sections, each section has a covered pavilion and amazingly clean restrooms within 20 feet of the play areas.

Section 1 is the enclosed public pool, enclosed skate park (converted basketball courts), a gazebo, an enclosed HUGE wooden playground (no gate, but there is a wall around the whole structure) including: slides, swings, baby swings, sand pits (2), balance beams, monkey bars and so much more!.  Also, included in section one is a COMING SOON dog park!

Section 2 (my husband says the oldest section and where we spent most of our time there) is 2 baseball fields (with a box full of bases to use), a lot of shaded picnic tables, a covered pavilion (available for rent), a gazebo, 2 old houses for photo ops, and a smaller fenced play area.  Again, no gate, but there is a fence around the entire play area.  Included in the play area are swings (2 normals swings and 2 baby swings), a tall slide, an old (but still fun) merry-go-round, and a "teeter-totter" style structure.  We spent most of our time here, because it wasn't as busy as the other play area.

Section 3 (which we did not visit) is a spray park (it came on around 11), a big lake, a big metal bridge to walk over the lake, a covered pavilion, a lot of big trees for shade, and big open fields for kite flying.  Section 3 is mainly made up of the spray park, but still loads of fun

Also available is frisbee golf, off road trails, and ducks!

2. Is it enclosed or covered?
See above description!  3 covered pavilions and 2 gazebos

3. What ages?
This park is FUN for ALL ages, including the parents!

4. How safe is it?
I'd say the park is pretty safe! It is HUGE! As always, as long as the parent/care taker keeps an eye on the children there shouldn't be an issue.  There is no water (other than the pool) around section 1, but the other areas, there are several small lakes, so it is hard to just let the smaller kids go without supervision.

5. Pros:
So many pros about this park!  It is a must visit any day of the week!  Go early to enjoy the most of this park and plan to stay all day! A picnic is a MUST!

6. Cons:
Not any cons except that the equipments tends to get hot as the day goes on.

Mark Twain Park - Richardson, Texas

5-12 years old structure
Large park and school in the distance
 restroom and covered pavillion
toddler structure

Name: Mark Twain Park
Location: Larkspur and Glenville

1. How big is the park? And what are the amenities?
This is a decent-sized park.  There are three play structures: one for toddlers, one recommended for ages 5-12 and one larger one.  There is a baseball field and a large green area where the kids can run around.  The restrooms were acceptable (not great, but relatively clean and functional).  There was a small covered pavilion with one picnic table, and there were a couple of benches on the edges of the play area.

2. Is it enclosed or covered?
The park is not enclosed or covered.

3. What ages?
This park is great for two year olds (possibly even slightly younger on the toddler structure), and with the varied play structures, it would probably be good for kids of any age.

4. How safe is it?
This park is pretty safe.  It is in a quiet neighborhood, and even though it is not enclosed, it is at least 30 yards from the road/parking lot in all directions.

5. Pros: Plenty of things to play on.  Great for all ages.

6. Cons: This park is right next to an elementary school.  We went during spring break, and no one was there, but I am not sure how that might change when school is in session.  Also, there isn't much shade.  The few benches are almost completely exposed.

Crowley Park - Richardson, Texas

Sign states that the park is good for 5-12 year olds. My three year olds had fun with most of the elements.

My girls particularly liked these funny steps.
There is a hole in the middle of this platform, which is pretty high off the ground. So if you  have young toddlers beware.

Climbing up the feature that leads to the hole in the top platform.
This sign says the smaller play equipment is good for 2-5 year olds.
I'm not sure if a two year old could do this rock wall or not, but my 3 year old's loved it.

Low flat steps for the younger crowd.

Although this slide was pretty steep for a younger toddler.

 Restrooms
Small pond with turtles and ducks in it. I saw some people fishing too.

1. How big is the park? And what are the amenities?
This is a good size park. There are two play structures, a swingset, covered pavilion, picnic tables with grills, plenty of benches, a small pond, baseball diamonds and restrooms. There was also a parking lot.

2. Is it enclosed or covered?
The park was not enlcosed or covered, but the pavilion was covered.
3. What ages?
The signs say 2-12 year olds.

4. How safe is it?
I rate this park high for safety. There is a pond but it is far away from the play structure, as is the parking lot.

5. Pros: The girls and I really liked this park. I liked the layout, the restrooms were close to both the parking lot and the play structures.

6. Cons: None I can think of.
